The Sounds of Latin America Piano Competition is a hybrid event (offered both online and in person), presented by the North Texas International Piano Symposium. This competition is dedicated to promoting the piano literature of Latin American composers, with the goal of fostering greater awareness, appreciation, and performance of this diverse and culturally significant repertoire.
The competition is open to participants of all nationalities and age groups.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
2. Contestants may participate in the ONLINE or the IN-PERSON competition format. Each format of the competition is divided into two divisions:
3. For the SOLO division only original works by Latin American Composers are allowed; arrangements or pieces from method books are not permitted
4. For the ENSEMBLE division, both original works and arrangements by Latin American composers are permitted.
5. Contestants may participate in both the Solo and Ensemble Divisions; however, a separate application form must be submitted for each division.
6. For the ensemble division, the age of the oldest member of the ensemble will determine the appropriate category.

ONLINE COMPETITION
● Submission deadline: November 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM (CT)
● Finalists will be announced on November 15, 2025 via email. Keep in mind that the performance video you submit for the pre-screening round will be evaluated again for the final round
● Final round is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025 at 6:30 PM (CT) as part of the 2025 NTIPS program
● Winners will be announced at the end of the livestream on Friday, November 21, 2025
How to apply:
To apply for the online competition participants must submit
● A completed online application form
● A public YouTube video link of your performance
The videos must be recorded with the participant’s face and hands in the frame at all times with the minimal disruption from the recording environment. The video must not be edited in any way during recording or after it has been recorded. The repertoire must be performed by memory. Contestants must select the appropriate division and category.

IN-PERSON COMPETITION
● Last day to register to the in-person competition is on November 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM (CT)
● By November 15, 2025, participants will receive the time for the preliminary round which will take place at the Jack Finney Concert Hall at East Texas A&M University. Three Finalists will be selected by the judges
● Finalists will perform at the Finals Concert held at the Jack Finney Concert Hall on November 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM as part of the NTIPS program
● All participants are responsible for their own expenses (travel, accommodations, etc.)
● Children under 18 years old shall be under the responsibility of their parents or legal guardians. They must be supervised at all times by their parents or legal guardians
● The competition is not responsible for any damage or theft of personal belongings of
participants
● Participants agree and authorize the organizers to use the participants image for any publicity and activity related to the event

ADJUDICATION PANEL
The panel of judges evaluates the video material submitted, as well as the in-person competition. The judges’ decision is final and cannot be appealed. However, a comprehensive commentary about video from the jury panel can be provided upon request (in English language only).
