North Texas International Piano Symposium at East Texas A&M University, October 15-17, 2026.

The North Texas International Piano Symposium: Sounds of Latin America planning committee is seeking proposals for presentations, poster presentations, workshops and lightning talks that showcase primarily the piano repertoire of Latin American composers. The symposium will be held at East Texas A&M University on October 15-17, 2026.


Proposals must be submitted no later than June 25, 2026, 11:59 PM (Central Time). Proposals in English, Spanish and Portuguese are welcomed. 

Accepted proposals will pay a $70 registration fee for in-person presentation and $60 for online presentation.


Proposal descriptions

In-Person and Online Presentations

a) Latin American Track: These 25-minute sessions highlight the piano repertoire of Latin American composers and may take the form of lectures, pedagogical lectures, lecture-recitals, solo recitals, or chamber works featuring piano.

b) General Track: These 25-minute sessions are devoted to the study and performance of piano repertoire and may take the form of lectures, pedagogical presentations, lecture-recitals, solo recitals, or chamber music performances involving piano.

c) Workshops: These are 25-minute, high-impact sessions focused on innovative practices in music education or general music topics. These sessions aim to spark new ideas, share practical tools, and foster meaningful discussion among participants.

d) Poster Presentations: Poster presentations showcase research and projects related to Latin American repertoire, piano pedagogy, or general topics in piano studies. Individual and group submissions are welcome.

Presentations and Workshops (online and in-person): 

  • Title
  • 200-word abstract 
  • 50-word description for the program 
  • 75-word short bio 
  • Headshot (full resolution) 

Poster presentation:

  • Title 
  • 200-word abstract 
  • PDF sample of the poster presentation
  • 75-word short bio 
  • Headshot (full resolution) 

Call for Performers 

The Symposium will begin with an opening concert on Thursday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cheryl Childers Lewis Concert Hall on the campus of East Texas A&M University.  The concert will feature works by Latin American composers and include performances of solo piano repertoire, works for two pianos, and chamber ensemble pieces.  If you are interested in being considered for participation in this concert, please complete the appropriate section of the Call for Proposals and Performers form.


Accepted Online Presentations will need to submit a video recording by the assigned date when receiving the acceptance letter. Presenters must submit a high-quality video uploaded through an enlisted Youtube Link. Presenters that are not able to complete this submission by the assigned deadline, will not be considered as part of the conference.
